First Eye Exam

A lot of children are afraid of getting an eye exam for the first time. They are scared of wrong answers, eye drops, and even thinking they might get a shot. Here at New Perspective Eye Care eye exams can be fun! Dr. Theroux loves teaching kids eye facts and showing them eye “magic tricks”. If eye drops are recommended, we can often schedule a separate appointment to make sure the first visit is anxiety-free.

Nonverbal or Non-cooperative? No worries!

There are techniques such as retinoscopy that can be used to look for a glasses prescription without the input of the child. There are also a lot of tests we do that can not be tricked by kids who simply want to leave with some glasses. We can do full eye exam without your child saying a word!

Infant Exams

The InfantSEE program, created by the American Optometric Association, provides free eye screening exams to infants 6-12 months old. Dr. Theroux is a member of the AOA and a proud provider of InfantSEE. Please let the office know when scheduling the appointment if it will be an InfantSEE exam.
